Marketing On Twitter – Is It A Profitable Way To Build Your List?

Many years ago, there was a great promotion for Twitter marketing tools. It was believed that you could use Twitter as an effective way to build a list of prospective buyers for your products or services. Nevertheless, how much of a bang for your buck do you get from any of these programs that were pushed at us to improve our profits? We will talk about Twitter marketing and whether or not it is worth your time and expense as part of your online marketing tactic.

I was one of those who was interested to see if getting a huge following on Twitter was going to help my product promotion efforts and so purchased the tools. Not only did I shell out money to register in programs that would bring me followers but I invested in a few softwares to help advertise the products I was selling. All in all, I ended up buying about eight different programs that would aid me with all of this.

I invested in a software package that would automatically follow people for me in an attempt to prompt them to follow me back. People who were not following me on Twitter would be automatically taken off my follow list by another program I had purchased. This way I could be following Twitter users who might follow me in return. Some of the software I purchased are not interesting enough to bring up but I will just mention an useful program that auto-Tweeted any blog posts I made every time they were published. Initially, I was truly happy with the end results after using the programs in combination since they really delivered on what they promised. But as soon as it seemed I wasn’t pulling in any money, my initial enthusiasm was soon squashed. My plan was to post multiple blog entries each day and each of them was then sent straight to show on Twitter. Thinking that more blog entries would increase my blog traffic, I arranged for my daily blog posts to be made automatically both to my blog and to Twitter as well.

The results of my attempts are as follows: After three years utilizing these Twitter marketing tools, I had amassed nearly 10,000 Twitter followers. You’d probably be really delighted to have that number of followers, but there’s more to come. In the same 3 year period, my Twitter account gathered at least 15,000 blog posts that had links to my affiliate promotions. And that was the only advertising that I did for that blog, I decided not to even ping the posts to see precisely what Twitter could do for me. Just how ‘good’ it was rapidly became plain: after 3 years just two affiliate sales pulled in $46.74 plus another $9.10 for Adsense. With only 2 – 4 visits each day coming from Twitter, maybe this is not surprising.

Basically, having almost 10,000 followers on Twitter using all these programs will not give you the results you want. In fact, in the last 3 years I have not even pulled in good money from that blog to pay for the Twitter programs that I had invested in. Last, I cannot personally recommend using automatic software tools as a good means of promoting on Twitter.
