How to Fix an iPhone that has slow internet connection after iOS 13.2.3


When a powerful smartphone like your iPhone has a slow internet connection, the problem can only be with your network device if it’s getting connection from a WiFi network. If it’s connected to the Internet via cellular data, then it’s possible that your service provider is having some network issues as well. For you to be able to determine the reason why your device has a slow internet connection, you have to troubleshoot your device. 

That is that the purpose of this post. Through this article, I will guide you in troubleshooting your iPhone that has a slow internet connection. We have experienced this problem before and we know that it’s not really that serious. In fact, you can fix it just by doing one or a couple of procedures. Mapped out below are some of the solutions that have been proven effective against this problem. Try to see what works for you. 

Troubleshooting an iPhone that has slow internet connection

In this post, we will try to look into each possibility and rule them out one after another until we can determine the cause. That’s the key to fixing this problem. With that being said, here’s what I suggest you do about this problem…

First solution: Force restart your iPhone 

Network issues that occur after an update are often due to system glitches. The most logical thing that you have to do at this point is the forced restart. It’s a simulated battery removal that refresh your iPhone’s memory, and reload all its applications and services. 

  1. Quickly press and release the Volume Up button, and then the Volume Down button.
  2. The moment you release the volume down button, press and hold the Side or Power key for 15 seconds or until the Apple logo shows on the screen. 

Your iPhone will continue the usual boot process. When the reboot is complete, try to see if it still has a slow internet connection. If it still has, then move on to the next solution.

Second solution: Reconnect to the Network

Another possible method to fix slow browsing issues from an iOS update is to restart or refresh your iPhone’s wireless internet functions. Basically, what you have to do is to toggle the WiFi switch off, and then enable it back. It’s one of the most effective ways to fix this problem, and here’s how it’s done: 

  1. Launch Settings. 
  2. Tap WiFi. 
  3. If it’s disabled, try enabling it so you can connect to the Internet through the service. 
  4. If it’s already enabled, disable it and then after a few seconds, enable it back. 

If this doesn’t make your connection faster, then try the next solution.

Third solution: Reset all Network settings on your iPhone

After making sure that the slow internet isn’t due to a failing network device, the next thing you have to do is refresh all network or wireless services on your iPhone. You can do so by resetting all network settings. Don’t worry, none of your files will be deleted. Here’s how it’s done: 

  1. From the Home screen, tap Settings. 
  2. Tap General. 
  3. Scroll down to the bottom of the screen, and then touch Reset. 
  4. Touch Reset Network Settings. 
  5. If prompted, enter your security lock. 
  6. Tap Reset Network Settings at the bottom of the screen. 

Your iPhone will reboot after this, once it has finished rebooting, try to see if your iPhone now has a better connection. If it still has a slow internet, then try the next solution. 

Fourth solution: Factory reset your iPhone with slow internet

A reset will be able to fix network issues including slow browsing problem and all sorts or firmware-related concerns. However, make sure to create a backup of your important files and data because they will be deleted and you may not be able to retrieve them. When ready, follow these steps: 

  1. From the Home screen, tap Settings. 
  2. Find and tap General. 
  3. Scroll down to the bottom of the screen, and then touch Reset. 
  4. Tap Erase All Contents and Settings. 
  5. Tap Erase Now. 
  6. If prompted, enter your security lock. 
  7. Tap Erase iPhone at the bottom of the screen.  
  8. Tap Erase iPhone again to proceed.  
  9. Now enter your Apple ID password, and then tap Erase to proceed with the reset. 
  10. Wait until your iPhone has finished the reset, and then set it up as a new device. 

After the reset and during the setup, you would immediately know if your iPhone still has a slow internet connection. If this doesn’t fix the problem and if your other devices that are connected to the same network have faster connectivity, then the next solution should be able to fix it.

Fourth solution: DFU Restore your iPhone 

This will bring your device back to its out-of-the-box configuration. It is effective against firmware issues that’s why it’s worth it. Here’s how you do it. 

  1. Connect your iPhone to the computer then launch iTunes or Finder.
  2. While your device is connected, quickly press and release the Volume Up button.
  3. Then, quickly press and release the Volume Down button. 
  4. Finally, press and hold the Side button until your iPhone screen turns black.
  5. Keep holding the Side button when the screen turns black and then press the Volume Down button.
  6. Hold both buttons for 5 seconds.
  7. After 5 seconds, release the Power button but keep holding the Volume Down button for another 10 seconds.
