Photos take up a large amount of storage space from your iPhone. That said, deleting old and unused images from your iPhone is imperative, so as to free up some space.
Pictures and videos taken using the iOS camera app are stored in designated folders under Albums. And this is where you should go whenever you find the need to delete any unnecessary videos and images from your iPhone. The menu options however may vary depending on the current iOS version your iPhone is running on. If you ever you need some hints, feel free to refer to the lined up steps below.
Steps to delete iPhone Albums
The following steps are applicable to iPhones running on the latest iOS platform, particularly iOS 13 or later versions. You may start whenever you’re all set:
Tap Photos to launch Photos app from the Home screen.
Tap the Albums tab at the bottom.
Next, tap See All on the top-right corner of the screen.
Tap Edit to make albums in editable mode. A red circle with a minus (-) sign inside will show up on the top-left corner of each album folder.
Tap the red circle with minus icon on the album that you want to delete.
Then tap Delete Album to confirm.
The selected album will then be removed from the My Albums directory.
Deleting individual photos and videos from an album
If you don’t want to delete all videos and images inside the album, then you can refer to these steps to delete selected photos and videos individually instead:
Tap Photos from your Home screen, to open the app.
Scroll down to the bottom section of the photo app screen and tap Albums.
Tap to open the album or folder name to view images and videos it contains.
Tap Select on the top-right corner of the screen to enable editing mode.
Tap to select the photo(s) that you want to delete or remove from that album. The selected photos will have a checkmark on the bottom-right.
After selecting all desired photos, tap the Trash icon in the bottom-right corner of the screen.Tap Delete Photo(s) to confirm.
The selected photo(s) will then be removed from the album.
Deleting individual videos and photos from an album permanently
Deleted photos and videos from the Albums are moved to the Recently Deleted folder and still recoverable. To permanently delete these files from your device, you will need to delete them from the Recently Deleted folder as well.
Just continue with these steps to remove all photos and videos from the Recently Deleted folder on your iPhone:
After deleting the photos, tap <Albums on the top-left corner to go back to the previous menu.
Scroll down to the Other Albums section.
Tap on Recently Deleted. This folder contains the photos and videos you’ve recently deleted.
Tap Select on the top-right corner of the screen to enable editing mode.Then scroll down to the bottom of the display and tap Delete All.
All recently deleted photos and videos will then be removed from your device permanently. This means you can no longer retrieve any of them.
