Sending and receiving emails are among the most important things you can do with your iPhone. And given the various platforms, you can manage emails in many different ways. One of the most reliable and stable email processing platform is Apple’s very own Mail application. However, using Mail doesn’t guarantee a totally flawless email processing experience. Like any other platforms, Mail can also bump into some random errors. Read on to find out why and what to do if your iPhone 11 is unable to send emails using the Mail app.

One way to ease the troubleshooting process is to identify the underlying cause of the problem. Thus, I laid out the widely known factors that can ruin the Mail app’s normal functions. And these are as follows:

Mail app glitches.

The problem may be just isolated to the Mail app. This is usually the case if the Mail app is glitching and stops working.

 

Settings errors.

Server settings that aren’t properly configured or modified incorrectly can also be the main reason as to why you’re unable to send or receive emails on your iPhone. To verify the correct email settings and server information to use, contact your email service provider or use the lookup tool instead.

 

Network and server issues.

Email services are likely unavailable if the server or network is experiencing some problems. To troubleshoot network-related issues with Mail, performing the basic tweaks may only work if the underlying cause of the problem is on your iPhone.

Insufficient storage.

Incoming emails may also not go through if your inbox is full. The same thing if the email contains huge file attachments.

Troubleshooting email sending problems on iPhone

The procedures I demonstrate below are used to eliminate most common factors that can trigger various types of email problems to occur, particularly with the Mail app. Don’t forget to test launch Mail and create a sample email to send and receive after performing each of the given solutions.

First solution: Restart the Mail app and your iPhone 11.

Follow these steps to clear out random in-app glitches and errors that prevent your iPhone from receiving emails.

  1. Swipe up from the bottom of the Home screen and then pause slightly in the middle. A pile of app cards will show up.
  2. Swipe left or right to find the Mail app card then swipe up on it to close the app.

After closing the Mail app, restart your iPhone 11 to clear its memory cache. Just continue with these steps:

  1. Press and hold the Side button and either of the Volume Button at the side of your phone for a few seconds.
  2. When the Slide to Power Off appears on your screen, release both buttons.
  3. Slide the Power off command to the right to turn off the phone.
  4. Wait for about 30 seconds then press and hold the Side Button until you see the Apple logo.

Wait for your iPhone to finish restarting and reconnects to Wi-Fi. When it’s connected, try creating a sample email to send and receive.

Second solution: Use the Airplane Mode trick to refresh wireless services on  your iPhone 11.

Problems affecting wireless services on your iPhone can also be dealt with the Airplane Mode trick. It works by giving a simultaneous restart on all the wireless features of your phone and thereby eliminates in transpiring errors. Here’s how it’s done:

  1. From the Home screen, tap Settings.
  2. Select Airplane Mode then toggle the switch next to it to enable the feature. Doing disables your iPhone’s wireless radios and relevant features.
  3. While Airplane Mode is enabled, restart or soft reset your iPhone.
  4. When your iPhone is finished rebooting, head over back to Settings-> Airplane Mode menu.
  5. Then tap the switch again to turn Airplane Mode off.

Wait for your iPhone to re-establish wireless network signal and once the signal becomes stable, launch your browser to test your internet connection. If you don’t have any trouble viewing websites and online resources, that denotes that the internet is working and thus, the Mail app should be able to send and receive emails as it should.

Third solution: Remove any restrictions for Mail app on  your iPhone 11.

When enabled, restrictions can also prevent Mail from working as intended. Thus you aren’t getting emails on your phone. To clear this out, turn off restrictions for mail app with these steps:

  1. From the Home screen, tap Settings.
  2. Select Screen Time.
  3. Tap Privacy & Content Restrictions.
  4. Find the Mail in the list of Allowed Apps and make sure that the switch next to it is turned On. If it’s not, then simply toggle to turn it on.

You can also lift all app restrictions temporarily be turning off the Privacy & Content Restrictions switch. If that solves the problem, contact Apple Support to ask for further recommendations.

Fourth solution: Update your iPhone to the latest iOS version available.

Software updates released by Apple usually contain fix patches that are programmed to address existing bug-inflicted errors including those affecting the Mail app. To check and install any available updates on your iPhone 11, just follow these steps:

  1. Tap Settings from the Home screen.
  2. Tap General.
  3. Then tap Software Update

You will see a notification prompt containing the details of the new firmware update, if available.

Fifth solution: Delete your email account from your iPhone then re-add it.

The problem may also be due to the email account that’s been corrupted. If this is the case, deleting and re-adding the email account on your iPhone would be necessary. Just follow these steps:

  1. Tap Settings from the Home screen.
  2. Tap on Accounts & Password.
  3. Select Accounts.
  4. Tap the email account you want to delete then select Delete Account to proceed.
  5. Select Delete account or Delete from my iPhone if asked to proceed.

After removing the problematic email account, reboot your iPhone then continue with these steps to set up your email account as new:

  1. From the Home screen, access Settings.
  2. Select Accounts & Password then tap on Add Account option.
  3. Select your email provider.
  4. Type in the correct information for your email address and password then select Next to continue.
  5. Once verified by the Mail app, select the information from your email account that you want to sync on your iPhone like Contacts and Calendars.
  6. Select Save.

Restart your iPhone to apply the recent changes and to refresh mail app services. Then try to see if that solves the problem.

Still cannot send emails on your iPhone 11 Mail app?

You can also use the lookup tool to verify if the email server settings on your iPhone are correct and properly configured. Or you may contact your email service provider for further assistance in performing more advanced email troubleshooting procedures. Another option you’ve got if all else failed is to escalate the problem to Apple Support and verify if there’s an ongoing problem with the Apple server that may be affecting Mail app services.
